Introduction:
Hollowbody is an upcoming horror game with no release date announced as of yet but defiantly one to be watching for. This game seems to take the best of the PS2 and PS3 eras and smash them together, the reveal trailer alone gives off cyberpunk meets silent hill vibes and honestly I'm all for it. While all we have so far is some screenshots and a trailer plus the information on the teams site, it's more than enough to hook anyone who fancies themselves a classic horror fan.
The story so far:
Lets start with the games description, this is a 3rd person survival horror title set in a dystopian near-future. Drawing inspiration from Silent Hill 2 and 3 as well some others in that category of games like rule of rose. You play alone and with limited resources at your disposal, from the trailer we can gather that bullets are a rarity and melee combat will probably be the way to go. Your main objective here is to solve environmental puzzles and fight for your life as you try to find a way to escape the exclusion zone. This zone is twenty miles of hellscape and its sealed off by towering walls that were erected after an event known as the collapse.
In this we know our character is named Mica and from the companies website we learn that she is a unlicensed shipper who is working for a shady ring of black market freelancers. She goes in for a routine run of gathering things from the zone but has issues and now need to escape and survive the exclusion zone in a way she wasn't prepared for. Some of the key points or features I'd like to point out here are the early 2000's feel of the graphics (which to me were some of the best years of horror games) the mentioning of strategic placement of save points to increase the tension we a player will feel, and full voice acting with multiple endings.
The developer:
Hollowbody is a solo project by developer Nathan Hamley, he recently released another game called Chasing Static which got a lot of feedback from some of the more popular youtubers like Jacksepticeye and IGP. This isn't his first go around with game creation but this one is an homage to his "favorite game series" Silent hill. Nathan has said on his site that he chooses to create his games solo because he like to makes sure there is a consistency throughout the game, I can respect that.
